Durga Puja
Durga puja is one of the most important part of the navratri functions. Though the puja is done all over the nation across different states but the best one is that which takes place in West Bengal. West Bengal along with all the other eastern states is known to celebrate Navratri basically and purely in the form of Durga Puja with a great splendour. The puja begins on the sixth day of the festival and is initiated with 'Bodhon’ which means awakening of the goddess. This continues till the tenth day. During this period, Goddess Durga is considered to be the daughter who is coming back to her native place after quite a long time from the home of her in-laws.

Garba Raas
Another important part of the navratri festival is the garba raas. Though it is also practiced in different states of the nation but is most delightful in Gujarat where a clay pot is considered to be the symbol of 'garbha’ which here implies the womb. On this occasion the women dress in the vibrant costumes and then dance around this clay pot. In addition to this, people also go in for performing the Dandiya Raas which is an equally important part of the festival. It is basically one of the traditional dance forms that is performed during the Navratri in the state of Gujarat.

Bommai Golu
This is practiced in the state of Tamil Nadu. Here the well-designed Golu dolls are beautifully decorated and displayed on the odd numbered tiers such as 3, 7, or 9. These are then worshipped as the goddesses and gods of the folklore. After lightening the lamps, the hymns are chanted.
